How to look after your swimsuit

It is advisable not to use a washing machine or dryer if you want to look after your swimsuit properly.

It's important to look after your swimsuit after swimming in the pool, so it lasts longer and the fabric does not get damaged.

From washing to drying your swimsuit

After training in the pool, you need to take care of your personal hygiene and clean your swimsuit.

Although this might not be as much fun as swimming in the pool, it is the only way to make sure your swimsuit does not wear out too soon. So, what should you do?

  • As soon as you leave the water, rinse your swimsuit in cold water to remove any chlorine from its fibres.
  • Do not leave your swimsuit in your bag while it is still damp.
  • Do not leave your swimsuit to dry in direct sunlight inside a zipped bag.

To ensure your swimsuit lasts longer, when washing remember to:

  • wash by hand rather than in a washing machine;
  • use soft neutral soaps;
  • do not use detergents or bleach.

Lastly, when drying your swimsuit, keep it away from direct sunlight or heat. Dry your swimsuit on a flat surface rather than hanging up, so the fibres do not stretch or crease. Do not use a washing machine.

Be careful with sun creams, body lotions and oils that could damage the elastic fibres and cause your swimsuit to lose its shape.

ARENA TIPS

Make sure you have the right swimsuit according to how often you swim: if you go to the pool regularly, buy a swimsuit made of MaxLife fabric that not contain spandex and, hence, is better for regular training thanks to its durability.
